A rare collectors piece, 44mm wide, 15mm deep. A Victorian sterling silver open faced pocket watch by Dent of London. Renowned watchmaker and watchmaker to the queen (Victoria). In very good condition, dates to 1868. The case is hallmarked sterling silver with a London assay and date marked for 1868, has the makers mark of A.T. Good condition case, no major scratches or dings to outer cover, rear cover pops open with a depression of the crown button, swing out movement (open the hinged front cover, press in the catch at the 6 O'clock position and lift movement, hinged at the 12 O'clock position). The inner cover has the hole for the key wind, some small bumps are visible. This is key set and wind piece (wind and set the time by using the key to move hands from the center pinion) key supplied. The dial is in good condition, NO hairline cracks or chips, signed "Dent 61 Strand London 33985" serial numbers match on dial and movement. Gold colured hands, Roman Numerals Good mineral glass in fine condition. The Fusee movement is signed "DENT 61 Strand London" and the serial number 33985. It has had an extensive service and is in fine condition. It runs well and keeps good time. A very nice English timepiece by a famous maker, Dent. Dent famously (along with Denison) provided the clockworks for the Westminster clock in the bell tower known as Big Ben. 150 year old English timepiece in every day usable working order.
