5cm (50mm) across the case. 16s size.
Waltham gold filled 23 Jewel railroad grade with power reserve indicator.
Very impressive and very good condition.
The case is a B&B Royal, gold filled, guaranteed for 20 years (from date of manufacture). Front and rear covers are screw on/off. A few light marks and very slight wear to engine turned pattern to rear cover. Some colour blemishes inside the rear cover and the smallest extremely shallow and small ding to rear cover that can only bee seen when you angle the watch so the light catches it.
The 23 jewel Waltham 1908 Vanguard movement is beautifully Damascened, gold lettering, micro adjuster regulator, gold center wheel and gold jewel hole collars, gold balance screws. Dates to 1910.
The dial is bright and clean, no chips, or cracks. Signed "Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewels" A very rare example to have no cracks of any kind.
The crystal is mineral glass and in perfect condition.
Blued steel hands.
Presented in a fitted, velvet pocket watch box.
Recently fully serviced including modern alloy "unbreakable" mainspring. Due to the power reserve indicator it no longer requires you fully wind the watch to the end point of the mainspring to tell if it is fully wound. You can see you have fully wound the watch. The power reserve guage works perfectly and allows a reserve at both ends so less strain on the mainspring.
I have given this piece some extra attention regards to timing, it currently runs within 30 seconds per 24 hours on static display on a display stand. I do guarantee it to run well and keep time to within 3 minutes for all other occasions (although I expect it will perform better).
The watch is crown wind and lever set, the lever being at the 11 O'clock position under the front cover, the front cover must be unscrewed to get to this.
If you are a collector of watches and want one of these, this is the one for you.
Another top piece, great for wedding, graduation, retirement, Christmas, Fathers day or birthday present.
Fully serviced including a modern alloy "unbreakable" mainspring.
Keeps very good time.
Serviced.
Servicing is defined as the piece being disassembled, cleaned, inspected and adjusted if necessary. It is then re-assembled and correctly oiled, timed for accuracy and adjusted if required. The mainspring will be replaced with a modern alloy type and the piece will be bench-tested for at least one day.
