5cm (50mm) across the case. Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewel 1948. Screw on front and rear covers, base metal case made by Keystone. Fine condition light surface scratches commensurate with age. Dial in great condition, faint hairline from 2 O'clock to sub seconds dial, no chips, signed "Waltham". Blued steel hands, Arabic numbers. The Vanguard movement is in fantastic condition, running well and keeping very good time. New (old stock) mineral glass fitted. Lever set at 11 O'clock under front cover. I would recommend this only to a collector or someone experienced with watches due to the time setting being a lever found under the front cover, this needs a little extra care when altering the time. Serviced including modern "unbreakable" alloy mainspring.
Servicing is defined as the piece being disassembled, cleaned, inspected and adjusted if necessary. It is then re-assembled and correctly oiled, timed for accuracy and adjusted if required. The mainspring will be replaced with a modern alloy type and the piece will be bench-tested for at least one day.
I restore all of my watches to a fully working condition. It is my aim to provide a watch that is not only running but working to a usable state. My watches can be worn and used for their intended purpose on a daily basis. The time keeping should certainly be within +- 5 minuted per 24 hours but I aim for +-3 or better.
My highly detailed photographs show the watch in detail, this level of detail is not normally seen by the naked eye. The watch will look even better in real life.
