5cm (50mm) across the case. 16s Waltham Vanguard rail road grade 23 jewel open faced pocket watch with up down power reserve indicator. In fine condition. Gold filled screw on front and rear cover case, "sturdy" by Empress case company, Canada. Lined pattern with triangle to rear cover. No dings, dents or scratches. The four piece triple sunk dial is in fine condition, a very faint hairline is visible with a loupe at the 2 O'clock position, otherwise bright and clean, features a power reserve "up down" indicator. It shows the power reserve over a 24 hour period (although the watch is capable of running for around 30+ hours, this gives a good amount of tolerance at either end of the scale and no need to wind fully to the stop point, thus saving the watch from any unnecessary strains). Acrylic crystal in fine condition. Superb, extra fine condition model 1908 Vanguard 23 jewel movement, dates to 1924. Gold center wheel, jewel holders and balance weights. Lossier hairspring, lever set (at 11 O'clock position under front cover) Micro adjustable, beautifully Damascened. Fully serviced and, as ever, fitted with a modern alloy "unbreakable" mainspring. Fully serviced, keeps time well, fantastic example of the type. Great for collectors, wedding, graduation, retirement, Christmas, Fathers day or birthday present.
