Antique Victorian Waltham full hunter pocket watch. Dates to c1896 making it c129 years old.
Size 16s. 5cm (50mm) across the case.
A very handsome model 1888 in a gold filled Illinois Watch Case Co "GIANT" case. 14k gold filled, guaranteed to wear 20 years (from date of manufacture). In good condition, no bad scratches, has a very minor ding to rear cover. No personalised engravings or monograms. The front and rear covers open a little past 90 degrees, good hinges. Front cover pops open with a depression of the crown, as it should. Outstanding for a 129 year old watch.
Crown set and wind, pull the crown out to set the time.
The dial is bright and clean, has a very faint hairline crack between XI and XII, no chips. Roman numerals and signed "American Waltham Watch Co".
Blued steel hands.
Mineral glass crystal, perfect.
The movement is a Waltham grade 20 model 1888 dating to c1896. Recently fully serviced including modern alloy mainspring. Tested, runs well and keeps good time.
With 18k gold plated trombone link Albert chain with Lapis Lazuli stone set fob.
Presented in a high quality, luxury fitted pocket watch box with recess for the chain.
Great for wedding, graduation, retirement, Christmas, Fathers day or birthday present. A very nice piece.
Serviced.
Servicing is defined as the piece being disassembled, cleaned, inspected and adjusted if necessary. It is then re-assembled and correctly oiled, timed for accuracy and adjusted if required. The mainspring will be replaced with a modern alloy type and the piece will be bench-tested for at least one day.
Statement.
I restore all of my watches to a fully working condition. It is my aim to provide a watch that is not only running but working to a usable state. My watches can be worn and used for their intended purpose on a daily basis. The time keeping should certainly be within +- 5 minutes per 24 hours but I aim for +-3 or better.
