Antique Victorian Waltham full hunter pocket watch. Dates to c1898 making it c127 years old.
Size 16s. 5cm (50mm) across the case.
A very handsome model 1888 in a gold filled CWC Co case. In good condition, no scratches, has a couple of very minor dings and a small area to the front cover that has some pin pint marks to the central area. No personalised engravings or monograms. The front and rear covers open to 90 degrees, good hinges. Front cover pops open with a depression of the crown, as it should. Outstanding for a 127 year old watch.
Crown set and wind, pull the crown out to set the time.
The dial is bright and clean, no hairline cracks or chips. Roman numerals and signed "A.W.W.Co Waltham Mass".
Gold main hands and blued steel seconds hand.
Mineral glass crystal, perfect.
The movement is a Waltham grade 640 model 1888 17 jewels dating to c1898. Screw set jewels. Recently fully serviced including modern alloy mainspring. Tested, runs well and keeps good time.
With 18k gold plated double Albert chain with red onyx and turquoise spinner fob. One end having a mini knife to carefully assist with case opening.
Presented in a high quality, luxury fitted pocket watch box with recess for the chain.
Great for wedding, graduation, retirement, Christmas, Fathers day or birthday present. A very nice piece.
Serviced.
Servicing is defined as the piece being disassembled, cleaned, inspected and adjusted if necessary. It is then re-assembled and correctly oiled, timed for accuracy and adjusted if required. The mainspring will be replaced with a modern alloy type and the piece will be bench-tested for at least one day.
Statement.
I restore all of my watches to a fully working condition. It is my aim to provide a watch that is not only running but working to a usable state. My watches can be worn and used for their intended purpose on a daily basis. The time keeping should certainly be within +- 5 minutes per 24 hours but I aim for +-3 or better.
