An outstanding 14ct gold filled chronograph centre seconds full hunter by Thomas Russell of Liverpool. c1890
The case is 25 year guaranteed (from date of manufacture) each part is made from 2 plates of gold with a plate of composition between them, vastly superior to electroplating which only deposits a very thin layer of gold. With the benefit of having a more rigid core to help it be more durable. This is 14k gold thick layers bonded to a metal composition base.
55mm (5.5cm) across case without crown.
The case is clean and bright, in very good condition. All hinges are in good working order, the front cover opens ever so slightly past 90 degrees and rear covers open to 90 degrees, all covers open and close well. Front cover pops open with a depression of the crown. Fantastic condition case, only VERY small insignificant marks, no signs of wear.
The two piece dial is bright and clean, no hairline cracks or chips, signed "Chronograph Centre Seconds by Thos Russell & Son Liverpool". Roman Numerals, gold main hands, blued steel centre seconds.
This is a chronograph centre seconds, the seconds hand (and the watch) can be stopped with a sliding button located on the side of the case. Slide to stop and slide back to continue. This enables the watch to be used as a stop watch and popular among Victorian doctors.
Crown wind and pin set. The pin is located on the side, near the crown. Push and hols this pin in to adjust the time, release when done.
The movement is a full plate model, signed Thos Russell & Son Makers to the Queen Liverpool", it is 15 jewelled, recently serviced, running well and keeps good time.
Mineral glass crystal in perfect condition.

Servicing is defined as the piece being disassembled, cleaned, inspected and adjusted if necessary. It is then re-assembled and correctly oiled, timed for accuracy and adjusted if required. The mainspring will be replaced with a modern alloy type and the piece will be bench-tested for at least one day.
Statement.
I restore all of my watches to a fully working condition. It is my aim to provide a watch that is not only running but working to a usable state. My watches can be worn and used for their intended purpose on a daily basis. The time keeping should certainly be within +- 5 minutes per 24 hours but I aim for +-3 or better.
